A-Morir Barracuda Pyramid Stud Sunglasses by Kerin Rose

Im not sure about these, put I HAD TO post them. These are the glasses you saw Rihanna wearing in the Run This Town video by Jay Z & buddies. You can and you have to preorder them, since they will be/ or are already an instant hype item. I would like to see more photos of the glasses, especially the bows and behind the mask. More info from highsnobiety :

"Last week we checked out the new “Run This Town” video by Jay-Z, featuring Rihanna and Kanye West. One of the things we asked right after watching the video was – who made those crazy stud sunglasses for Rihanna? Luckily we can tell you today – a-morir.

Kerin Rose set up a-morir a little under a year ago. The designer is best known for her sunglasses, which are all made by hand in her workshop. To date she has made sunglasses for Rihanna, Katy Perry, Mariah Carey, Cassie, as well as Mickey Factz. Her sunglasses also recently appeared in Married to the MOB and Hellz Bellz lookbooks.

Rihanna is wearing the Pyramid Stud sunglasses in Jay-Z’s music video. The sunglasses are entirely covered in hand-painted pyramid studs, that have been slightly distressed. Since we know the question will come up – yes, you can actually perfectly see through them. You will be able to purchase the sunglasses from October, when not only a black, but also silver and gold colorways will be coming out. The sunglasses can be pre-ordered for 350 USD here. "

Billionaire Boys Club - Three-Fingered Gloves

The BBC items I have wanted the most made a comeback! Love the concept, but I would personally coloured them green, just like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!!!
\(^o^)/ Well, expect them to drop when I got my own clothing company!
"Who would have thought the most sought after item from Pharrell’s Billionaire Boys Club would be a stylistically and functionally deviant Three-Fingered Gloves. Currently sold out on online sample sale site, Gilt, the gloves have a soft cotton upper with dollar signs and diamond motifs on the palm. “BBC” is embroidered on the backhand and these give your hands an interesting extra-terrestrial look that is cooler than that of mittens.

Too bad, like we said, they are sold out at Gilt, so those who are looking for them might have to dig a little deeper. " from here

Boy I've been waiting for this. Monocle is my favourite magazine though its weird, because Im far from the target type this magazine is made for. So I better recommend this to everybody ^^ " this issue includes features Daiki Suzuki, ts(s), WANT Les Essentials, Haversack and Hackett, as well as the usual travel tips and a close look into the economy and culture of Singapore. A small accident

Ouh jea I forgot to post about this. A small accident happened in Estonia and the T-letter from my WBOT four finger ring got some damage. Still the Play doh-like material what Im using in my rings is pretty durable and no bigger break ups hasn't been occurred so far.

My journey to Japan

If you don't know, now you do: Im leaving to japan in the next Sunday for 6 months! ( 30.8.09 - 10.2.10 )
The first 3-4 months I will be working in a International Student Exchange camp in a small town in Kyushu. Me and the other volunteers do all kind stuff there, like cutting trees, helping local villagers or go to schools to tell about the big world behind the Seas. A great way to see how the locals live is you ask me. And we get a little money too!

Then maybe after Christmas ( not sure yet ) I'll be leaving the camp and heading to Hiroshima ( all the details coming in the future of course! ), then Okayama, Hyogo, Kyoto, Nara, Aichi, Shizuoka, Kanagawa aaand finally Tokyo!

So when im in my journey, and especially in when working in Kyushu, the blog updates won't be that regular since well...Im working! The blogs content will also change a bit, focusing more on the environmental, architectural and meal - sides. Nonetheless, the main center, fashion, will be coming back not later than when reaching the big Cities.

I hope this tour won't scare all the normal readers, but bring new ones instead. Hope you like it! Atleast i will.

Cheaters of London got a pair of vintage Silhouette Futuras, one of my favourite glasses of all time.
Made in 1972-73 this glorious piece is very rare and only a few people got the complete collection. I hope I get a pair myself, maybe even the full set ^^ but thats not current yet.

uniform experiment Fall/Winter 2009 Accessories

As a Accessories AND Uniform Experiment fan this post was a must. Not diggin the whole chain theme they put ( actually the very first collection looks to be the best still, hehe ) but then again all the colourfull carabiners and safety pinns are def the biz. " Japanese brand uniform experiment has come out with an excellent line-up of accessories from their Fall/Winter 2009 Collection. Carabiners and safety pins come in multiple colorways, next to a solid line-up of ties, wallets and cashmere scarfs. We like the direction and clean looks of the collection a lot this season, especially the tonal accessories. " More pics/info here.

Avatar trailer

Avatar - Theatrical Trailer
Looking good!
Avatar takes us to a spectacular new world beyond our imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on a journey of redemption and discovery, as he leads a heroic battle to save a civilization. The film was first conceived by Cameron 14 years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not yet exist. Now, after four years of actual production work, Avatar delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film, disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story. - from here

The Independent | Tyler Brûlé Interview

//Intependent interviews Tyler Brûlé, the founder of my favourite magazine, Monocle.// "He’s a man who has one of the few thriving magazines in the downturn – but he’s also a man who thinks nothing of interviewing himself. The article doesn’t dig as deep as we’d like (are those sales figures worldwide or in the UK only?) but it is an entertaining read." - from here
" His critics said he’d fail but Tyler Brûlé is growing circulation, opening foreign bureaux, moving into retail and planning a radio network. Ian Burrell finds out how "

Back from Estonia

I got back from my trip to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia and have to say that I was nicer than I assumed. Well I was an infant when I last time visited it so I didn't know what to expect actually. Anyway, its funny how much more central european feeling you get there, especially in the old, medieval town section. But then of course history has its part since Tallinn was an old member of the Hanseatic League.
This time, my trip was more of a culinary one than anything else, but since Im still of a blogger newbie I forgot to shoot what the meals looked like, ehhe ^^. Well maybe next time! Im thinking to start a food-relaited section into this blog, but I maybe start it whem Im in Japan.
//So main thing looks to be the architecture in this case. Many medieval building looked a bit ragged what was a shame, but natural in a country what used to belong into the USSR. However a massive refurbishment was in effect and I can imagine maybe in 10 years the whole old town section will look elegant again.//

No ID Talks Hip-Hop

No I.D. Speaks On Hip Hop from zachwolfe.com/live on Vimeo.

Good video! Its not just HipHop its about the routines and ideologies of modern day in general. Please watch. "No I.D. drops some jewels on being “cool”, representing for your city vs. representing for yourself, and Soulja Boy as he compares to Big Daddy Kane. " from here

WIBT: Birch Bark Backpack

Not really a " what I bought today " item, because I also got this one for free ^^. Still, this old ( 1960's ) backpack made from birch bark is dope as hell and totally unique. I found this from my Uncles attic, originally made for my maternal grandfather, Niilo Tarvajärvi ( fin ) by the region of Kainuu.
Maybe you international readers dont really give a lot respect for this kind of stuff, but for us Finns its really a part of the culture and history. There has always been a lot of forests in Finland, and back in the day ( way back ) Finland was the Europes top Tar producer. In the times of famine, people even made bread out of wood, so basicly wood was used for anything you could think of.
But times change and they dont even really make things like these anymore, or if they do, its mostly made in russia or some shit :S
This is definitely one of those items that many other people dont know/care/understand to use.

Roman Kremer for Mykita Spring/Summer 2010 Sunglasses

Really liking the concept here, much more than the Alain Mikli shades. IMO the only thing missing here is a small logo in the arms, but still its all good. " Roman Kremer takes risk in design and Mykita is willing bring them to market for that consumer who is willing to accept that risk. “The ROMAIN frame is cut out of 0.5 mm stainless steel and features metal shutters. The design borrows cues from traditional Inuit eyewear, which was designed solely to provide protection from dazzling sunlight and did not have conventional lenses. The very graphic and square-edged frame is inspired by the collection’s leitmotiv of protection and is reminiscent of war face paint.” Look for them in November. " More pics/info here.

Vintage Nannini Design Sunglasses

Why do the vintage sunglasses just look better!? Saw this in Vintage Frame Companys Creme De La Creme section. Really diggin the design, especially the arms, damn. But the front logo looks somehow weird. I think the look would be better if there was no front logo, just the clear part. more info here!

Alessi Daytimer Oled Watch

Interesting design! Purple is so in. " Designed by Wil Alsop & and Federico Grazzini and rugged at a glance. The Daytimer has a high-contrast blue OLED digital display and features a 3-dimensional geometric polygonal frame. As time passes, the display cycles through nine graphics on its OLED screen when you press the button to recall the time. The Daytimer comes in four colors: red, green, purple and black " - from here

Revolver 2009 Fall/Winter Collection

Im a big Revolver fan, and the 09 F/W collection is as expected. Im not a fan of the leopard pattern ( or what you call it ) but in small amounts or details like the pants here I can digg. The sailor jacket is dope too. First in the series what I could use with pride. The varsity jackets are also just pure dopene$$
" Working closely with Ed Banger’s art director and renown artist So-Me, Japanese streetwear brand Revolver returns for another season of bold graphics and cut-and-sew apparel. Fall/Winter 2009 features a good amount of graphic t-shirt designs, all created by So-Me, along with denim and outerwear items, highlighted by the brand’s clean-cut varsity and baseball jacket interpretations. Asics GT-2 Mountain

Where Im standin I dont see that many Asics in the streets, and its kinda sad since there are many cool models. I think the Nike generation should really look around, you know see whats behind the corner and not just reject everything wheres no swoosh on the side. Feel me?

" Asics has released the GT-2 Mountain for Fall 2009. The sneaker is a hiking boot inspired mid top, based on the GT-2 running shoe from Asics. It comes in three colorways this season, some more colorful than others. All of them feature a tonal embroidery pattern on the toe box. "
